OAD Figures Things Out

We are not fair weather fans.  We have been going to the games and listening on the radio.  True, there are a few blowouts where we have left early and spent the ninth inning at WingStop on Hegenberger Road.  But we still showed up.  And cheered when something -- no matter how small -- went right for the A's.  And we still look at the shop to see if there is any flare we want to buy.  And the Trumpet Puppet video continues to crack us up.  But it is hard to blog when things are this bad.  What can we say?  Even the Chronicle doesn't have a reporter covering the A's right now.  We will slog through with the A's, but slogging doesn't provide us with much blogging inspiration.  

One thing we have been doing here during these low times is think hard about what is wrong with the A's.  And we are pretty sure we have it figured out.  It is the offense.  The A's offense is terrible.  And it has been terrible for kind of a while.  The A's have become a team that can draft and develop pitchers but has no idea what to do about offense.  Look at Daric Barton.  He was supposed to be a major league hitter.  But after a season with the A's he is a disaster.  And we don't think it is just the hitting coach's fault.  Because the A's offense has been bad through a couple of hitting coaches.  There is something wrong with the culture of the A's when it comes to offense.  The A's need a cultural shift at the plate.  Something big.  Because at some point, we will lose our minds if the A's don't start hitting again.  Seriously.
