Last night was some kind of dream. The A's won. Cute Gio G. looked good and sounded so humble and awesome on the radio. Ziegler's streak continued. There was no one at the Coliseum so the line for chicken fingers was actually waitable. And the weather was great. When we look back on this nightmare of a second half (the post-Rich Harden era), last night will stand out as one game when things weren't so totally horrible. In fact, we didn't even mind missing the Olympics to watch the A's (and by the way -- there is no way on earth those tiny Chinese gymnasts are 16). Maybe this is the start of something good?
Go Oakland!
If that tiniest Chinese gymnast is 16 I must actually be 121 years old.
And it's too bad we lost again. Sigh...

We just can't seem to clear the "3-Run Hurdle" (not an Olympic event).

The win was nice on Tuesday. A very well-played game.
But then Wednesday night was the evil doppelganger of Tuesday night. That first home run by Carlos Pena, former A, was a massive bomb deep into the right field bleachers. Extremely impressive, but it set an ominous tone.
The bright side is the A's played a decent team pretty tough and have a chance to win the series.
I'm also glad I got to find out whitewater kayaking is an Olympic sport. And 10m air pistol. I'm bummed I haven't seen any of the team handball yet, though.

All I need is Phelps. Lots and lots of Phelps. I don't know what I'm going to do when his races aren't televised anymore and I'm stuck with my sad-sack team from Oakland again. As much as I love them, it sure is fun to watch a sure thing.
