Welcome Back to the Old Normal

One thing about not being a professional athlete is that we can do what we have to do even when our bodies might not be totally cooperating. For example, we can still type a blog post with a paper cut. We can watch the A's on TV even though our eyes are itchy. So we have a hard time really understanding why Rich Harden is always being scratched from starts due to what sound like totally minor aches and pains. You don't need us to tell you that this feels like the worst kind of normal.

On a brighter note, it's nice to see the A's win a couple of games so far in Toronto. And although we never like to see Scoot struggle in any way, watching him play defense gave us a nice warm feeling about him being an embedded A.

Go Oakland!

Rich Harden has been breaking my heart since he gave up the homer to Trot Nixon in Game 5 of the 2003 ALDS. However, i'm so happy about guys like Dana Eveland and Greg Smith, I'm OK with Harden being his usual fragile-little-b***** self. If my boy Joe B. didn't get burned by Barton's botched DP last Sunday, A's would be 7-3, easy! I'm loving this. ALDS: A's over O's in 4. ALCS: A's over Royals in 6 (Eveland over Bannister in a barn-burner).

I really don't understand this Rich Harden thing at all. It's like he's trying to make me sad on purpose.

Best team in baseball (April 13)...the Oakland A's! That is all.

Thank you for the record, Steve-O. We will remember this day forever...

I meant AL, sorry. I think I jinxed em. They looked cold today and in need of hot cocoa.

I heard that Buck had a ski mask on yesterday. I can't help but laugh...

Baseball in ski masks is just wrong (Crosby had one and maybe Brown also). South Dakota native Mark Ellis seemed to be just fine. It was wise for the A's to not have Rich Harden throw and play catch in such frigid conditions. My plea: Please MLB, just start the season in mid-April in cities not named Cleveland, Chicago and Detroit! If it takes a few doubleheaders (remember those?) to complete the season before October, then so be it.

to the tune of "Raw Hide":

Put em' on
Pick em' off
Get em' out
Greg Smith!

Steve-O, that's pretty good! I might have to steal that at the next Greg Smith game I attend.
