Goodye Again Ken Macha

While we here at Oakland A's Days are still processing the season that was, the madness that was the ALCS, and the future of the A's, we wanted to note that while we will miss certain things about Ken Macha (in particular: his accent, his mispronunciation of the names of most of the players, his terrible but somehow amusing radio commercials, his ability to pick up Milton Bradley in a bear hug) we think it is probably for the best that the A's let him go today.  We are ready for someone new at the helm.  And just like last year, we REALLY hope that person is Ron Washington.

... and as Ken Macha drove away from the Oakland Coliseum for the last time, Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again (On My Own)" began to play on his XM Satellite Radio.

"All we are saying, is give Wash a chance". As I look back on this last series (and the whole year for that matter), all I could think was, wow, we have one hell of an outfield! It's the best I've seen since the Billy Ball days (Henderson, Murphy and Armas). Now if we could just tweak our infield a little....

Steve-O! You're back!

It becomes all the more glaring when every media outlet, active players, and retired, alll hail Leyland as some kind of phycocological genius that will squeeze all the juice out of any Joe-Bob young journeyman that comes along. Although I don't agree with that; I do understand that his players "play for him". I believe the Athletics in the same way would "Play for Wash." A's in '07!

I hope against hope that either the Mets or Cards can do the unthinkable and stomp the Tigers in the WS, in order to expose the "Leyland is a genius" fraud. Why did he leave in Jason Grilli to throw 12 straight balls to load the bases? Why did he bat Neifi 2nd in Game 1? The Tigers keep winning, glossing over his questionable choices.

Ronnie Wash in '07!!!

This just in: Leyland not a genius! What a pathetic display by the Motor City Kitties! The have embarrassed our league with their dismal WS performance. Horrible!! Just horrible!!!

Hahahaha. I must say that I didn't pay attention to this year's WS at ALL. I'm a terrible baseball fan. I think that when it didn't end up A's vs. Mets (like I had wanted it) I just checked out. Oh, well. At least Leyland sucked this time.
